Whether you're buying or selling a home in the San Bernardino Mtns, do yourself a favor and hire Susan Smart as your agent. I hired Susan in 2004 to buy a home in Twin Peaks and it went flawlessly. As a result, my wife and I hired her again earlier this year to buy our new home in Lake Arrowhead. Again, it was an excellent experience.
What makes Susan so great? Susan is an excellent listener, which in this day is hard to find regardless of the transaction you find yourself in. After listening to you describe your dream house including your "must-haves", "needs", and "wishes" she will scour every potential opportunity and present them to you. Susan knows how to respond in a timely manner. If she wasn't able to respond immediately, she would send a text letting me know a time frame when she would get back to me. Susan also knows the mountain like the back of her hand given that she's been a resident for decades. One of her qualities that I appreciate the most is her ability to speak candidly and honestly, which we REALLY appreciated. She never hesitated to give us her two cents about a home, but only after my wife and I had ample time to look it over and develop our own opinions first. We had a few "must-haves" on our list and on a couple occasions my wife and I nearly settled for a house or two that met most of our criteria, but missed one or two of those musts. Susan would sit us down and in a very professional manner go over the homes and explain why we should continue looking and not settle. She wanted to make sure she kept us going down the right path and not get sidetracked by this or that aspect of a home, when in reality it just wasn't right for us. Thank goodness for her candidness, otherwise we would have settled and not ended up in the wonderful home we live in now. Also, Susan projects a vibe that just makes you want to be around her. She has a great personality and enjoys a good laugh. This is very important because buying a home can be quite stressful. So often she would keep us staying positive and moving forward. And when we finally went into negotiation, then into escrow, she was the rock we needed when things got a little rocky during negotiation as well as the home inspection and subsequent renegotiation. I negotiate for a living, but it was really nice having her calm demeanor and expertise to keep us focused and not let our emotions get the best of us.
Overall, I would never hesitate to use Susan for all future home purchases. So often people will try to sell you something so they can get paid their commision and move on to the next sale. Not so with Susan. She will do whatever it takes for however long it takes to get you into the perfect home.
Susan was easy to work with and very trustworthy which is an important quality. Although she was very busy, she took us seriously and always followed up on what she said she would do. We are very glad to rcommend her.
