Jim Newcomb moved to Lake Arrowhead from the Bay Area, but is a Southern California native, growing up in Manhattan Beach (and living in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as Antioch, CA). He has over 30 years of sales, marketing, merchandising, and negotiating experience, and is a Licensed Real Estate Broker. He completed training at Loan Officer School in 2006, and has experience as a mortgage consultant (working for a time at Arrowhead Home Loans). His real estate expertise includes sales of cabins and lakefronts from Crestline to Lake Arrowhead, all the way up to Green Valley Lake. He has experience with probate sales, short sales, and foreclosures, and has conducted training courses on these "special situation" transactions for agents at Coldwell Banker. He has extensive experience with corporate clients on both the listing and buying sides for corporate retreats. He is certified as a Coldwell Banker Previews Property Specialist (a designation for agents who specialize in luxury residential properties), as well a Certified Negotiation Specialist, a Certified e-Marketing Specialist, and the most recent certifications: FTBS (First Time Buyer Specialist), SFR (Certified Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource) and CHS (Certified HAFA Specialist).

Jim is active in the Lake Arrowhead Community, volunteering his time as the Boy Scout Mountain Commissioner (Eagle Scout, Wood Badge, Vigil Honor, Silver Beaver recipient). He was active in the Recreation & Parks District as one of the Lake Arrowhead Advisory Representatives, as well as the President of the Rim Recreation Foundation (a non profit 501c3 corporation that supports the park district). His family has volunteered at the local wildlife rehabilitation Center: Wildhaven Ranch, and is currently the President/founder of the "Arrowhead Wine Enthusiasts" club, and the Gourmet Wine & Dine Club. He is a level III Sommelier, and a certified Wine Educator with the International Sommelier Guild  ...needless to say, a BIG wine enthusiast and student/teacher...a passion he loves to share on his #1 ranked wine blog Http://www.TheSommelierUpdate.com

In his "past life", Jim was in numerous mangement positions in consumer products,  with Stouffer Foods Corporation and the Western Sales Director for the JB Williams Company, Inc. (overseeing 13 western sales offices and following Alberstons and Safeway business nationally).

Jim and his family enjoy backpacking, mountain climbing, skiing, fine wine, fine dining, traveling, and collecting Native American artwork. His wife, Jean, works at the Arrowhead Animal Hospital, as a veterinary technician. His oldest son (Jon) is currently a captain in the U.S. Air Force, and stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base. The Mountain News did an article on Jim's son Jon called Rim Senior Aims High.  His youngest son (Matt) is a Marine Biology Instructor at Sea Camp San Diego.

After looking all over for homes with my limited budget I decided to start looking in the mountains. Unfortunately the real estate agent that I was working with wasn't familiar with mountain homes. So I decided to start working with Jim Newcomb. I immediately felt a difference. His knowledge and expertise when it comes to mountain homes is incredible. Not only does he sell homes up on the mountain, but he lives there too. He's familiar with everything regarding a mountain home. Even now after having closed escrow he's helping me by providing me with information on various services I may need. Tree cutting, roofing, cleaning services. You name it, he most likely knows someone that's cheap and good at what they do. He was very patient with me. Never once did I feel rushed or like he was pushing me to buy quicker. If anything, he encouraged me to take my time and even encouraged me not to put offers in on certain properties I may have wanted to see. He would say things like, "You don't want to be in that area if Crestline." He knew all the neighborhoods well and is extremely well connected. I first "met" Jim online many months before I was ready to purchase a home. For about 6 months or so he always promptly and courteously replied to my E mail questions. I must have sent him 40 - 50 E mails with all sorts of questions, not just about particular home listings, but all manner of inquiries about Lake Arrowhead: weather, noisy/quiet areas, local events, taxes, etc. He knew the answer to everything I asked and seemed to be an expert on everything related to the area. He spent, easily, several hours with me before I was even able to buy a home (due to my age and ability to access my retirement accounts). Once I was finally ready to buy every part of the process - home tours, his first-hand knowledge of each property, suitability of a particular home based upon my stated priorities, staying within my budget (no attempts to up-sell), and finally submitting an offer, was first rate, professional, and about as doggone well-done as I could imagine the process being executed. My offer was accepted without any counters (he nailed the price exactly as the appraisal was later delivered) and throughout the escrow period every step was exactly as it should be. The sale of my previous home was fraught with numerous speed-bumps, due to errors by a first-time buyer and a less than competant buyer's agent, and my loan officer's inexperience, and through each of them Jim kept my purchase on track and maintanined peace among the other agents involved with other home sales that were all contingent on my purchase closing.

Jim Newcomb was/is an agent of utmost professionalism, competence, and patience with the multiple issues that were part of my home sale that repeatedly delayed my purchase. I give my highest recommendation of his service to anyone shopping for a home purchase in the Lake Arrowhead area.

We came up to Arrowhead in early September with the thought of perhaps finding something. Jim was recommended to us by a local and he proved to be the perfect one for us. He listened to what we wanted and sent us pictures and information regarding every place in the area that seem to fit our desires. As we looked, we learned there were certain things we wanted and certain things we didn't want. Jim patiently re-canvassed the area and came up with the perfect home for us. All this in about 2 weeks. He guided us through the purchase process and we closed escrow less than two months from the day we started looking.
